Training

All staff have the opportunity to access training and this includes core training such as Safeguarding; PREVENT; Advanced Team Teach Practioners and Autism Awareness Competencies.  Any additional training needs for staff need to be aligned to the Raising Achievement Plan (RAP) enabling value for money.

Elmwood staff undergo a rigorous interview programme initially through the format of an application form where current commitment to research within the field of SEND and/or SEMH are acknowledged and previous experience within the field of SEMH, whether within a specialist, mainstream or industry environment, as we feel our pupils need that “difference” from what they have previously been exposed to. From there are observed in a class activity; probing questioning with school council delegates; a formal interview and pre-determined presentation with the interview panel.
