|Curriculum Lead for English
MPS / UPS + 1 SEN (£2,192) + TLR2b (£4,622)
Elmwood School is an expanding Local Authority SEMH school in the leafy suburb of Rushall in Walsall. We are seeking an outstanding teacher of English to help develop and lead our school into its next phase. The school has 69 mixed 11-16 year olds on roll split into three discreet areas. We offer a wide and personalised curriculum catering for a range of abilities up to and including GCSEs / IGCSE’s. We are looking for an innovative person who is capable of establishing positive relationships working with young people with complex needs. You must have high expectations, flexibility and resilience. If you are passionate about making a difference and genuinely care for pupils who are on the brink of social exclusion then we would love to meet you.
Due to the departure of our current Curriculum Lead of English we are looking to appoint an innovative and creative practitioner to lead and develop this core subject area to maintain pupil’s excitement about English resulting in outstanding outcomes for pupils. The roll will be integral to the school’s success as greater focus will be placed on Curriculum Leads under the new EIF.
We offer a wide and personalised curriculum including access to a well-resourced outdoor education programme which should inspire the practitioner to embed learning outside of the classroom (LoTC).
The successful candidate will also have the responsibility to develop an engaging English curriculum for KS3 and 4 pupils, creative thinking will be vital as is the willingness to take risks to look at alternative qualification routes that show progress (and meet the pupil’s aspirations).
We encourage applicants to come and visit to our school and see for yourself the true potential of our facilities to give you an idea of how you can develop them to continue to engage pupils whilst achieving successful and tangible academic outcomes for those who have a passion and desire for a good English qualification as a gateway to further education or employment. Please contact us to book a visit on either December 2nd at 9.30pm or December 4th at 1pm
