Teacher of English (KS3&4)
MPS + 1 SEN (Suitable for NQT’s)
Required September 2021
Elmwood School is an expanding Local Authority SEMH school in the leafy suburb of Rushall in Walsall. We are seeking an enthusiastic NQT teacher of English to help enthuse and develop the English department into the next stages of its growth. The school has 76 mixed 11-16 year olds on roll split into three discreet areas. We offer a wide and personalised curriculum catering for a range of abilities up to and including GCSEs / IGCSE’s. We are looking for an innovative person who is capable of establishing positive relationships working with young people with complex needs. You must have high expectations, flexibility and resilience. If you are passionate about making a difference and genuinely care for pupils who are on the brink of social exclusion, then we would love to meet you.
We offer a wide and personalised curriculum including access to a well-resourced outdoor education programme which should inspire the practitioner to embed learning outside of the classroom (LoTC).
The successful candidate will also have the responsibility to deliver an engaging English curriculum for KS3 and KS4 pupils (supported by an experienced Curriculum Lead for English and a well-established English department)
We encourage applicants to come and visit to our school to see for yourself the true potential of our facilities. This will give you an idea of how you can develop them to continue to engage pupils whilst achieving successful and tangible academic outcomes for those who have a passion and desire for a good English qualification as a gateway to further education or employment. Please contact us to arrange a visit.
If you would like the chance to work with us, you can contact Lynn or Dawn by email or telephone for an application pack.
