We have been fortunate to receive the support from a number of local Companies and Organisations as part of our fundraising activities.
SOUTH STAFFORDSHIRE PLC – Following an appeal by James Hawkins, Family Welfare Officer, we were thrilled to receive a £500 donation from South Staffordshire PLC to help support the work we do with our young people. This is a fantastic donation and we are extremely grateful for this support from South Staffordshire PLC.
The Variety Club, Children’s Charity, enables a number of our young people and their families the chance to attend their annual charity event at West Midlands Safari Park; this year it will be taking place on Saturday 19th October and Sunday 21st October 2019. As well as having free admission into the Park, wristbands can be purchased for a £2 entitling the user to unlimited rides in the amusement area. We are very grateful to the Variety Club for giving our students this wonderful opportunity and send our sincere thanks. Photographs are available on the photo gallery page on the website of previous visits.
The Variety Club also offers other services to help support schools and families. They are able to help in providing wheelchairs, specialist equipment, Sunshine Coaches and Great Days Out as well as being there should families need support.
On average the Variety Club provides funding for a piece of specialist equipment for a child every 2 days, a wheelchair every 5 days and a Sunshine Coach to a school every 6 days, In addition the Varity Club also have funding opportunities that can support children and young people with special needs as well as help with grants for wheelchairs and specialist equipment for children and young people up to the age of 18 years old. The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party Children’s Charity give some of our young people the opportunity to go a Christmas Party at Dudley Zoo as well as to Birmingham Botanical Gardens in the summer. Students are treated to a visit around the Zoo, enjoy a hot meal, watch a show and meet Father Christmas at the Christmas event and in the summer term enjoy face painting, jugglers, bouncy castles and snacks. Everyone always return having had a brilliant day out. Copies of thank you letters sent by Year 7 pupils can be accessed by clicking on the link below.
Students also have the opportunity to visit the Circus, usually early in the year, thanks to Circus Starr. Twelve students were taken to the performance at Darlaston Town Hall on Monday 14th January 2019 where they had a brilliant time having first enjoyed a meal in School! A big thank you to the staff (Mr Damms, Mr Francis, Mrs Powers and Mrs Bowen) who gave up their time to take the young people and also to the Companies and individuals who donated tickets for our use. Pupils kindly sent thank you letters following the event some of which can be read below. The next opportunity will be on Wednesday 22nd January 2020.
