A very busy and long half term was drawn to a close with a hugely successful whole school STEM day on 22.10.19. Our Zombie Apocalypse event was celebrated by all staff and students whilst wearing amazing outfits and completing a task that required skills of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.

No one could have predicted just how wonderfully well the event would go, or how fantastic the costumes in school would have been! Pupils of Elmwood were an absolute credit to us and themselves and despite an exciting and different day, everyone rose to the challenge and managed to participate and contribute to the group tasks.

Students from 9E should be incredibly proud of themselves for winning the shooting competition, and 10B for winning the best looking apocalyptic weapon. The additional creative writing task gave our students the opportunity to show independent literacy skills and a special mention must go to Stuart  (10A) and Rhys  (10B) who produced outstanding pieces that our English teachers have said are so good they can be considered for their KS4 English qualifications.

Of course the day wouldn’t have been half as successful without the help and support of our wonderful staff who completely got behind our themed event and gave all students a day to remember!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the day’s success. More photographs are available on the gallery page of the website.
