Latest update from mom is that the hockey team played well against two established teams but unfortunately lost 2-3 against Spain and 1-2 against Egypt. Craig however did manage to score against Spain and couldn’t have played any better in both matches, flying up and down the pitch. There are four more divisioning games to take place then the teams are put into higher/lower leagues for the competition proper which allows for equal abilities to play each other according to different needs.

Craig was disappointed with the above results but they were close games and mom is so proud of how he played. He now just wants to win a game!

Monday 19th June 2023

After the disappointment of two close losses yesterday, today GB got 3 wins – 4-0, 2-1 and 6-0.; the last game was the one against Pakistan. They were fantastic team games with everyone playing their part. Craig scored a further two goals and, as he is usually a defender, it is funny writing that he has scored goals (he is playing midfield).

Below is a media link which show’s Craig wearing number 10 top and is the 5th goal.

On Tuesday 20th June there are games at 12 noon and 3 pm (German time). Tough opposition against Bulgaria and Paraguay.

Wednesday 21st June 2023

Today was down as a tough one for the GB team but they put on two great performances. They beat Pakistan 3-1 and managed to overturn yesterday’s loss of 1-4 to Bulgaria into a 4-1 victory.

Unfortunately Craig twisted his ankle a bit in the first game so he didn’t play as much of the second game. Despite that he scored 1 in the first game and 2 in the second, all in open play, so he made his contribution!

Tomorrow it’s the return Paraguay match at 11 am then the semi finals of the group at 3.

Craig also featured on Central News on Wednesday 21st June when he was interviewed as part of their feature on the Special Olympics.  Craig conducted himself brilliantly and was a great advocate for the team.

Thursday 22nd June 2023

The latest news is that the team won the semi final 3-1 vs Paraguay. Team GB now play Bulgaria at 1 pm on Saturday in the final for the gold!

It was another fantastic team performance with Craig scoring another goal bringing his tally to 9.

The team have a rest day on Friday – their first one! Good luck for Saturday.

The team won GOLD!

The team put in a wonderful performance – each and every one of them. The went 0-1 down but got it back to 1-1 by half time. The final score was 4-2.

After the medal ceremony the team went out for a well deserved meal.

A big thank you from mom, Rachel, for everyone’s support over the last week and what fantastic memories for all involved.
